From August 1 to 3 (Friday – Sunday), the famous venue for major international events in Berlin — the Estrel Congress Center (ECC, Sonnenallee 225, 12057 Berlin) — will once again host the large-scale Berlin Brettspiel Con 2025, dedicated to “analog games.”
“Analog game” refers to an interactive activity that requires no special equipment or advanced technical knowledge. It is based on the complete absence of digital or computer elements, relying instead on clear and reliable interaction and communication between participants. There are generally two main types of “analog games.”
Board games:
“classics” (backgammon, dominoes, checkers, chess);
“strategic” (requiring strategic focus during gameplay);
“children’s” (educational and developmental);
“family” (entertainment in the circle of family and friends);
“card games” (various uses of cards as the core game component);
“cooperative” (where combined efforts of participants are crucial to achieving a shared victory);
“puzzles” (train attention and develop logical thinking) and more.
Tabletop role-playing games:
involve collective creativity of the players, who jointly create a “narrative” (“story”) using established rules, improvisation, and strategic decisions while “managing” their characters. Such fictional storytelling is shaped through words, illustrations, imagination, and drawings. Examples include Starfinder, Descent: Journeys in the Dark, Dungeons & Dragons.
At Berlin Brettspiel Con 2025, all enthusiasts of board and role-playing games, regardless of their level of experience, are welcome to participate. Over three days, the event will be fully dedicated to both new and time-tested board games, as well as the fascinating world of role-playing games. Visitors will also have the opportunity to test numerous games. In addition, tournaments and insightful discussions are scheduled.
A major highlight of Berlin Brettspiel Con 2025, as always, will be the large gaming “flea market,” where old and new games are actively exchanged. The exhibition-fair will also serve as a platform for exclusive premieres and presentations of new board games never before shown to the public.
